HTTPS by default

As previously discussed, the Wikimedia Foundation is deploying HTTPS by default, for better reader and editor privacy and security. This has finally been implemented on Italian Wikipedia. Most likely, it shouldn’t affect you at all. If you edit as registered user, then you already had to log in connected through HTTPS. We’ll keep an eye on this to make sure everything is working as it should. Do get in touch with us if you have any problems logging in or editing Wikipedia after this change or contact me if you have any other questions.

Come discusso precedentemente, la Wikimedia Foundation sta impostando HTTPS come protocollo predefinito, per garantire maggiormente la privacy e la sicurezza dei lettori e contributori. Ciò è stato finalmente implementato su Wikipedia in italiano. Con tutta probabilità, non dovrebbe causarvi alcun problema. Se contribuite come utenti registrati, allora avrete già effettuato il log-in tramite HTTPS. Terremo sott'occhio la situazione per essere sicuri che tutto funzioni come dovrebbe. Contattateci per qualsiasi problema nel log-in o nella modifica delle pagine di Wikipedia in seguito al suddetto cambiamento, oppure contattate direttamente me per altre domande.

- Yes I noticed that the Italian Wikipedia since a couple of days ago has been forcing me to use https even if I don't want to, even if I go to my preferences and I uncheck the "Always use a secure connection when logged in", is there any way at all for me to just keep on using plain http? Why leave that setting in the preferences, if it's not respected? This isn't the case on the English Wikipedia, where I still use http instead of https so that setting is correctly working there. Nineko (msg) 15:17, 12 giu 2015 (CEST)- I wish there were a perfect way to handle this, and I'm sorry for this answer, but any form of opt-out would also leave potential security risks in our implementation which make it difficult to safeguard those who do not opt-out. Because of this, we’ve made implementation decisions that preclude any option to disable HTTPS, whether logged in or not. This renders the current opt-out option ineffective, and the option will be removed at a later date after we’ve completed the transition process. The reason why this has worked on English but not Italian Wikipedia is simply that Italian Wikipedia was transitioned before English Wikipedia. /Johan (WMF) (msg) 16:04, 12 giu 2015 (CEST)
