[modifica | modifica wikitesto]
Francesco Scagliola is an Italian windsurfer who holds various worlds and Europeans titles in the youth slalom category.
[modifica | modifica wikitesto]
Born on 28 September 2000, in Reggio Calabria, a little city in the southern part of Italy, Francesco started Windsurfing at the age of 8.
[modifica | modifica wikitesto]

His love for windsurfing was always really strong, he passed many and many hours in the water every single day, with the only goal to became a pro rider.

At the age of 9, Francesco bought his first board, and decided to participate at his first racing competition; the feeling for him was just amazing, and from that moment on, he decided to dedicate all himself to this beautiful sport.

At the age of 10, Francesco met  Lucio Cozzupoli, one sicilian rider that included Francesco in his own team "wind action".

Lucio was always a big inspiration for him, and was always there to push Francesco's limits higher and higher every single session. Together they took part in a lot of competitions around the country,  especially between Garda lake, Sicily and Sardinia, and for the first time in Francesco career, they also partecipate in a international event, the " 2012 jymg Ifca world championship". This was by far the most important race for both rider, Lucio took part in the master division (35yo-45yo) and Francesco in the junior under 13 division. Contrary to expectations, anxiety and nervous have not overwhelmed Francesco, that at the only age of 11 won his first world title. After this competition Francesco received his first collaboration proposal with the famous brand "Roberto Ricci Design" and this made Francesco really happy.

Many titles and competitions later, Francesco during one event in Croatia met Marco Begalli, an Italian windsurfing legend that became his coach.

Marco pushed Francesco's skills into another level, and at the only age of fourteen they decided to send the first PWA (professional windsurf association) wildcard application, for the event in Alaçati, Turkey. Marco took part in a lot of events of the professional world tour, but for Francesco was the first time, and unfortunately for him, the commission declined his application. From that moment on, Francesco decided to achieve another important goal for his career, and started an hard and long training program, to make him  able to compete the year after in the hardest windsurf contest in the planet, the " Fuerteventura World Cup". Fuerteventura is one of the most popular  island of the canary archipelago, situated in front of Morocco but under the jurisdiction of Spanish government. In this island collocated in the souther part there is one of the most important spot for our sport, Sotavento. Gusty offshore wind around 40 knots almost every day, beautiful beach and crystalline water, choppy about one meter high make this place beautiful but also really hard to compete. Finally after one year of hard training and waiting  Francesco received his wildcard and took place as a younger rider ever on the tour in the event. In spite of everything Francesco did some good races and was also able to pass some round, thus impressing the whole world. Now Francesco is finally a pro windsurfer rider, that travel around the world with the goal to became a PWA world champion, and he spend most of his time between his hometown, Maui (Hawaii, usa) and Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain). and his dream is getting closer.

Francesco show to everybody his new board sponsor for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
